Dynamic Duo

There’s nothing more dynamic than a beautiful Black woman—a fact that was more than evident at yesterday’s ESSENCE Fierce and Fabulous Luncheon, which boasted some of the most stunning African American women of our time! From Gabrielle Union’s radiant, boho glow to Tracee Ellis Ross’s disco glam moment, each superstar rocked a unique makeup and hair look that reflected her own style. Check out our favorite faces from the event!

02
Kerry Chic

Kerry Washington radiated a clean, natural elegance in burnished lips, rosy cheeks and gorgeous lashes. “I’m a big mascara girl,” she said. “I’m a huge fan of L’Oreal Telesopic Mascara!”

03
Red Alert

Anika Noni Rose looked every inch the Old Hollywood glamour girl in glossy red lips, mile-long lashes and retro waves.

04
Natural Woman

Malaak Compton Rock dazzled the room in voluminous curls, bronzey eyeshadow and super-shiny nude gloss. “I wear LORAC Cream Lipstick in Pout or Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in Buff every single day,” she revealed.

05
Broadway Babe

Stage and screen legend Sheryl Lee Ralph went for high-wattage glamour with fuschia lips, smokey eyes and a curly bob. Despite her sexy look, she advises makeup newbies to take it slow. “Less is more,” she said. “Don’t experiment with bold colors if you don’t know what to do! Get comfortable with the basics first, and then go wild.”

06
Fresh Face

“For Colored Girls” actress Tessa Thompson is one of Young Hollywood’s hottest faces—and it’s no secret why! With her flawless, cafe au lait skin, perfect pout and long waves, she’s poised to be the Next Big Thing.

07
Golden Girl

Erica Campbell of Mary Mary looked stunning in pinky-coral lips and a tumble of amber ringlets. We asked her to name her ultimate beauty icon, and without hesitating she said, “Iman! She challenged our idea of what was beautiful. When I was little, I wish I had a doll that looked like her!”

08
Model Behavior

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey looked like a supermodel in kohl-smudged eyes, nut-brown lipstick and a high, ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ ponytail.

09
About Face

Newlywed Lala Vasquez rocked the red carpet in silver eyeshadow, flushed cheeks and a glossy, pale pink mouth. The key to her flawless skin? “Neutrogena Face Wipes,” she said. “They’re the best for getting off all your makeup. I use them every day!”

10
Double Trouble

Supermodel Naomi Campbell and ESSENCE editor-at-large Mikki Taylor shared a giggle at the luncheon. With their beyond-glossy locks, clear, creamy complexions and nude lips, the longtime friends served up major glamour.
