Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

Change is certainly in the air. In 1961, Charlie Sifford became the first African-American to join the PGA Tour —a huge accomplishment that entailed years of efforts, even in the face of numerous death threats. Now, Sifford, 86 who is also known as golf’s Jackie Robinson, will have his name immortalized in the game, according to The Los Angeles Times. The Northern Trust Open will offer an exemption in his name for a player who represents the advancement of diversity in golf. The tournament is scheduled for February 16th-22nd at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.—BB
