Golden Globe Noms Announced: Beyoncé, Viola Davis, and Blair Underwood

It’s that time of year when Tinseltown pays a respectful nod to their peers and the industry’s movers and shakers. Today, Beyoncé, Viola Davis, Blair Underwood and the TV movie “A Raisin in the Sun” earned Golden Globes nominations when Terrence Howard, Brooke Shields and Rainn Wilson announced the nominees for this year’s best in film and television as chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

For best original song, Beyoncé shares the nomination with her cowriters for “Once in a Lifetime” from the film “Cadillac Records.” Viola Davis, heralded for her powerful albeit brief performance in the religious drama “Doubt,” secured a supporting-actress nomination. “A Raisin in the Sun” receives a nod for best miniseries or motion picture made for television. While “In Treatment” costar Blair Underwood is up for his second Golden Globe nomination for supporting actor in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television. According to the HollywoodReporter.com, Underwood wasn’t expecting recognition for “In Treatment.” He joked that he thought the telephone call informing him of the honor was in regards to his recently cancelled ABC drama, “Dirty Sexy Money.” “I thought maybe they were calling to say they’d made a mistake and had changed their minds [about cancelling the series],” Underwood told the industry publication.

The award ceremony will air on January 11 on NBC.
