George Zimmerman’s brother, Robert, caused a major stir when he tweeted an offensive split screen comparing Trayvon Martin to an alleged baby killer, reports CBS.

On March 24, Zimmerman tweeted the photo comparing De’Marquise Kareem Elkins, a 17-year-old accused of shooting and killing one-year-old Antonio Santiago on March 21 in Georgia.

Zimmerman attached the caption, “A picture speaks a thousands words. Any questions?” and sent it out to the NAACP, Michael Moore, the National Rifle Association and others. In a follow-up message, Zimmerman said, “1 of those pics is a person who may have murdered @ point-blank range, the other: a person who gave every indication they probe would’ve.”

Earlier today, Zimmerman apologized via Twitter. “I’m sincerely sorry my tweet offended many—I made a serious error in judgement abt the way it wld convey & understand why it is offensive.” He plans to further explain his actions on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live this evening at 9 p.m.

Zimmerman’s younger brother, George, faces second degree murder charges for shooting and killing Martin in February last year. George claims he killed in self-defense. His trial is set for June 10.
