Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester, Jr. is allowing George Zimmerman to be released on $150,000 bail under several conditions, including electronic monitoring, according to the Miami Herald and AP.

Judge Lester Jr. also demanded that Zimmerman refrain from drinking alcohol, using drugs or firearms and he must observe a curfew. Zimmerman will also be allowed to leave the state of Florida, but must work out details with his lawyers and law enforcement beforehand.

State prosecutors originally asked that his bail be set for $1M. As for right now, it’s not clear when Zimmerman will be released.

Wearing a dark suit and looking slimmer than we’ve previously seen him, Zimmerman took the stand during today’s hearing and directed his comments toward Trayvon Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton. “I wanted to say I am sorry for the loss of your son,” he said. “I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. And I did not know if he was armed or not.”

In what was a surprise to many watching, Zimmerman’s wife of over five years, Shellie, took the stand to testify. She told the court over the phone that she’s not concerned over her husband’s safety and says he’s not a threat to society. “He is absolutely not a violent person,” said Shellie.

Like Shellie, Zimmerman’s parents testified over the phone in defense of their son. Each parent praised their son’s actions in the community. His mother, Gladys, told the courtroom that her son mentored two Black children in the past.
