Less than a week after publicly auctioning off the gun he used to take Trayvon Martin’s life, acquitted murderer George Zimmerman has now resulted to taunting Trayvon’s parents.
Despite overwhelming evidence suggesting otherwise, Zimmerman has consistently maintained that he was doing nothing more than defending himself against a 17-year-old, unarmed Trayvon when he chased the teen down, confronted him and fatally shot him in February of 2012.
In keeping with his claim of innocence, the former self-appointed neighborhood watchman is now taking things a step further and taking aim at Trayvon’s mother Sybrina Fulton and his father Tracy Martin. During a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Zimmerman heartlessly lashed out at Trayvon’s parents with the notion that Trayvon’s upbringing had something to do with why he inevitably lost his life. He also gave a brief and bizarre recap of the confrontation between he and Trayvon on that fateful night, making it sound as if the teen approached him first and not the other way around.
Trayvon Martin Tragedy: A Timeline
“They didn’t raise their son right. He attacked a complete stranger and attempted to kill him,” he said during the interview. He then went on to directly insult Sybrina Fulton as a mother before making unfounded statements about Tracy Martin’s relationship with his son.
“Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin did everything they could to capitalize on her son’s death,” he continued carelessly. “She was never a mother figure to him. Tracy Martin couldn’t have cared less about their son. He treated him like a dog without a leash.”
Four years, one highly-questionable acquittal and a boatload of reckless commentary later, Zimmerman still appears to have no remorse for ending Trayvon’s short life before he could even graduate high school.
