Sidibe thanked fans for the flood of compliments she’s received about her transformation, posting a cheeky, tweet, “Um… That Instagram photo was mostly about showing off my Biggie Smalls tshirt and laid wig but…ya know… That’s cool too.”

Still, the Oscar-nominated actress wasn’t always so confident. Back in 2014, she revealed that sometime it’s tough dealing with all the criticism. “It’s hard to get dressed up for award shows and red carpets when I know I will be made fun of because of my weight,” she said, “If I hadn’t been told I was garbage, I wouldn’t have learned how to show people I’m talented. And if everyone had always laughed at my jokes, I wouldn’t have figured out how to be so funny. If they hadn’t told me I was ugly, I never would have searched for my beauty. And if they hadn’t tried to break me down, I wouldn’t know that I’m unbreakable.”

No matter what size Gabby is, she is and always will be beautiful and a stellar example of for women everywhere who don’t fit the unrealistic beauty standards set before us.
