Kayln Chapman James, who was crowned the first Black Miss Alabama in 1993, was placed on administrative leave from Florida station WPBT2 after the statements she made regarding the Dallas Police shooting in a Facebook post.
James posted a live video Sunday, stating she didn’t feel sad about the deaths of the officers who were fatally shot and referred to the shooter, Micah Johnson as a “martyr.”
“I’m dealing with a bit of guilt because I don’t feel sad for the officers that lost their lives and I know that that’s not really my heart,” says James in the video.
“I value human life and I want to feel sad for them but I can’t help but feeling like the shooter was a martyr,” she continued.
In a follow-up post on Facebook, James reveals that she has been threatened and harassed for the comments she made. She clarified her position by stating, “Micah Johnson is NOT a hero,” she does not condone violence against anyone and that she wants “healing and peace for our nation.”
