Forbes finance writer Zack O’Malley has started a new hip-hop rivalry. He recently named Jay-Z, Diddy, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Bryan “Birdman” Williams as the closest rappers to becoming the industry’s first hip-hop billionaire then posed the question, who will make it first?
The five men are the richest rappers right now. Diddy is closest to claiming the title with an estimated worth of $500 million. Next up is Jay-Z, who’s worth $450 million, then Dr. Dre, worth $250 million, and Birdman who’s net worth comes in at about $110 million. Despite recent headline making deals Fiddy is in last place with a net worth of $100 million, which is astounding in it’s own right, but still makes him least likely to beat the rest.
Birdman has already responded, claiming that Young Money Cash Money will claim the throne.
“We strong and growing every day as a brand and fast. Within the next few years we will be billionaires,” he said in an email to Greenburg.
Who do you think will be the hip-hop community’s first billionaire?
