Time Magazine’s Person of the Year reveal is right around the corner.
The winner won’t be crowned for another two days, but the magazine announced it’s short list for nominees this morning on The Today Show. Among the finalists are Ferguson protestors.
“Every day, still in the news, and in this case, expanding across the country into the case of Eric Garner. It’s launched a whole new conversation about race relations and the administration of justice in this country,” said Time’s managing editor Nancy Gibbs.
The other nominees include Apple CEO Tim Cook, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, pop star Taylor Swift, the Ebola caregivers, Alibaba founder Jack Ma, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Iraqi Kurdish President Massoud Barzani.
The winner is ultimately chosen by the magazine’s editors, but readers were able to cast their vote in a Reader’s Poll over the weekend. Ferguson Protestors took second place in that poll, with first place going to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
