Doctors don’t believe that legendary songstress Etta James has much time left to live, according to E! Online. The 73-year-old “At Last” singer has been battling leukemia, dementia and kidney failure for several years now.

The singer’s physician, Dr. Elaine James (no relation), says, “I am Southern and Christian and would just ask for the prayers of her fans and friends.” Today’s statement came after a court hearing for James’ $1M estate.

In recent months, we’ve been following James’ deteriorating health, but Dr. James says she wanted fans to know the “severity” of her condition. “They know she’s been sick, but not how sick.”

Another estate hearing is planned for this coming Monday, December 19th. Reports indicate a settlement is close to being reached between her husband, Artis Mills, and her son, Donto James.

Earlier this year, doctors ordered James to undergo a court-ordered medical exam. She also suffered a urinary and blood infection.

In October, James released her final studio album, her first in five years. It also marked the end of an amazing 50-year career.
