The country is in mourning after two individuals opened fire yesterday during a Christmas party at a developmental disability center in San Bernardino, California, killing at least 14 people.

Police killed the suspected couple who carried out the attacks, but their motive is still unknown. But perhaps the bigger question this morning is how many more mass shootings must we endure until something is done?

This year alone, the United States has seen a staggering 355 shootings in 336 days—more than any other country in the world, according to the Washington Post. The New York Times reports that gun sales on Black Friday were at an all-time high; the FBI ran 185,345 background checks for potential gunowners that day (that figure does not take into account the number of guns bought illegally). And last night, President Obama issued yet another plea asking Congress to tighten gun control laws.

In the wake of yesterday’s shooting, where do you stand on gun control? Does the solution lie in stricter gun control laws, or do you think this is more of a mental health issue? Take our poll and sound-off in the comments below.
