Jamie Foxx may have taken on one of his most important roles as a real-life hero.
According to CNN, Foxx helped rescue a man after his pick up truck crashed and caught fire in front of his home Monday night.
The driver was 32-year-old Brett Kyle who was driving his Toyota Tacoma “at a high rate of speed” when the truck derailed off the road, fell into a drainage ditch and rolled over multiple times. The truck landed on its side and caught fire with Kyle still inside.
This is where Foxx came in, telling KCAL, “As I’m getting him out, I said, ‘You’ve got to help me get you out because I don’t want to have to leave you. I said, ‘You’ve angels around you.'”
Foxx and an off-duty EMT then managed to cut Kyle out of his seat belt.
“I don’t look at it as heroic. I just look at it as … you just had to do something,” Foxx told KCAL. “It all worked out.”
Foxx took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and the driver’s father hugging. “Met the father of the young man from last night today,” read the caption. “This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.”
