The world was shocked, Monday, when the news of comedian Robin Williams’ death surfaced. As one of the most beloved artists in Hollywood, he was well known for bringing smiles and laughter to all. From Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji to his stand-up comedy, Williams was a delight to watch for children and parents alike.

But according to an article in Time, the comedian was dealing with severe depression in the weeks before his death. Williams had also been dealing with a lifelong addiction to alcohol, which landed him with an family-staged intervention, and a stint in rehab last month. Coroners are still trying to discern whether Williams’ death was suicide.

Back in 2012, Healthline reported that depression affects 1 in 10 Americans at one point of their life. And although depression can range in severity, that means, everyone probably knows someone dealing with depression. What do you do if you suspect someone you love is depressed? Do you talk to them about it and help them find the support they need? Or do you leave it to them to figure it out. Take our poll and let us know.
