The relationship between the Black community and police enforcement has always been strained and in recent years there has been a dramatic uptick in distrust, fueled by cases like that of Michael Brown, Freddie Gray and Sandra Bland.

In light of a recent incident in Chicago that left 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier and 55-year-old Bettie Jones dead at the hands of police, the relationship continues to suffer.

LeGrier, a 19-year-old college student who was home for the holidays, was shot and killed at the front door of his home by police responding to a domestic dispute call made by his father. Bettie Jones was also killed by police during the incident.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is now calling for reform saying there needs to be a change in how police respond to mental health crisis, reports the Washington Post

There are those that are looking at this as an isolated incident, but still others are expressing a distrust all around and would think twice before calling the police for help.
