Sex before marriage: One of the most hotly debated topics of the 21st (and 20th and 19th) century. Some can’t imagine a life without sex before tying the knot, while others feel that giving yourself up before saying “I do” (or before finding The One) is sacrilegious.
Erica Campbell, one half of the gospel group Mary Mary, recently revealed that she wasn’t a virgin when she got married. Campbell, a proud Chrisitan, chided the church for not making sexual health information readily available.
“Growing up in church, I was taught, ‘Don’t do it, don’t do it, don’t do it,'” she told C-Nikky. “But the moment you get married, you’re supposed to understand everything…But what people figure out is intercourse, not interconnection. They figure out sex, but not the intimacy or the heart-to-heart tie that you’re supposed to have.”
