Several celebrities have spoken out following the 2016 Academy Award nominations announcement that recognized no people of color.

Jada Pinkett-Smith was one of the most vocal as she took to her Facebook page to openly discuss the issues, ideas for moving forward and finally revealing that she won’t be attending or watching the award show this year.

Jada Pinkett Smith on the Academy Awards: “We Must Stand in Our Own Power.”

Pinkett-Smith has received much support (and some criticism) for her position, with many agreeing that it’s time to stop looking for recognition from places where it isn’t being given freely.

What do you think? Will you be watching the awards? Do you usually skip the Oscars anyway? Are you tuning in to see what Chris Rock has to say? Let us know!
