It’s a Sunday afternoon in Harlem. Church is in session but the salons are still open. We’re on the hunt to find a lady that will let us shift her look in no time flat.
She looks like a possibility.
I approach the stranger. Her name is Starr Dawson. She’s not going to church today and (yay!) she’s open to letting us give her a makeover. She’s got two hours to spare, so we will do her right in this time frame.
Rochelle Mosley of Salon 804 is on the job. As Starr and I chat, Rochelle assesses the hair situation. Her plan: A touch-up, some quick color and a few bonded tracks will do the do.
Rochelle, a Virginia native, has owned Salon 804 for 13 years. She smiles pretty for the camera while Star gets a deep treatment under the dryer.

The touch-up and deep treatment are complete. Now for some bonding. Rochelle says bonding is a good option for women who like to change their hairstyles often.
It’s an easy way to introduce a different length, color and/or texture without commitment. As long as the hair is taken out professionally, to preserve the integrity of the hair and scalp, bonding is okay.
Now for the cut.
Rochelle then bumps the ends with a flat iron. Star’s got to go, so there’s no time for makeup, but Rochelle pulls out the faux lashes, which lift Star’s look instantly. To see Starr’s full transformation, watch the Ambush Video.
