Along with Prince, Mint Condition proves living in Minnesota can’t be all that bad.

Forged in the 1980s, the group’s original members include lead singer Stokley Williams, bassist Ricky Kinchen, guitarist Homer O’Dell, pianist Larry Waddell, keyboardist Keri Lewis and keyboardist/saxophonist Jeffrey Allen. Lewis is the only one of the St. Paul, Minnesota men to separate from Mint Condition and produce for other bands.

The group is best known for its sincere love songs that blend jazz, funk and R&B grooves together to make slow jam favorites.

From “You Send Me Swingin'” to “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes),” Mint Condition has released seven albums. We’re thrilled to see them get down at the 2011 ESSENCE Music Festival, join us in swangin’ below.
