As it does every year the vibrant city of New Orleans will be hosting the ESSENCE Music Festival and this year, like years past, ESSENCE is giving back to the Big Easy. You can also make an impact by volunteering your time at the annual Youth Outreach Program and first-ever Healthy Living Fair, which kick off tomorrow, July 1st, at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for Performing Arts. New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper, New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu and U.S. Army Major Nichelle Johnson will be joining ESSENCE for an opening ceremony to kick off the “Impact New Orleans – Day of Service” which includes a Healthy Living Fair and the annual Youth Outreach Program. The Healthy Living Fair, a free community event, will feature interactive health stations, health screenings, workshops, live entertainment and preventative care information. The Youth Outreach Program aims to empower New Orleans youth by encouraging them to focus on personal enrichment and reinforcing life skills. You can volunteer by helping to set up the event and assisting with registration and distribution of supplies. New Orleans needs you. Volunteer and help make an impact on New Orleans by emailing
