Donald Trump and his team are scrambling to pick up the pieces of his campaign following the release of a 2005 video that hears him making digusting comments about sexually assaulting women.

Just hours before Sunday night’s second round of presidential debates, the Republican presidential nominee hosted a surprise press conference where was joined by three women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault. He was also joined by a woman who was raped at 12 years old by a man who was defended by a legal team of which Clinton was a member nearly 40 years ago. Each of the women briefly shared their stories after making it clear that they were there to support Donald Trump. The impromptu press conference was streamed live from Trump’s Facebook page less than 90 minutes before the debate began.

In response to the press conference, Hillary Clinton’s team relased this statement immediately afterward.

“We’re not surprised to see Donald Trump continue his destructive race to the bottom. Hillary Clinton understands the opportunity in this town hall is to talk to voters on stage and in the audience about the issues that matter to them, and this stunt doesn’t change that. If Donald Trump doesn’t see that, that’s his loss. As always, she’s prepared to handle whatever Donald Trump throws her way.”

Trump’s decision to bring forward the accusers comes on the heels of over 30 Republican politicians renouncing their support for him following the release of the 2005 tapes, in which he is heard bragging about his belief that he’s able to freely grope and kiss women because of his celebrity status.
