Motherhood just got a more difficult for some teens in our nation’s capital. MEI Futures Academy, a one-of-a-kind Washington, D.C., residential charter school will close its doors in June, according to The Washington Post. The Academy was a haven to some, an institution where a young woman could wake up with her child in a dorm-style room, have breakfast in the cafeteria and drop the little one off at the on-site nursery before her first class of the day. The D.C. Public Charter School Board, citing persistent academic and operating problems, revoked MEI’s charter at its April meeting.—BB
