On Wednesday, The Washington Post reported that the Metropolitan Police Department has plans to relaunch a search in hopes to find the missing Relisha Rudd.
Police Chief Cathy Leiner announced in a press conference in the early morning hours that a special task force has been created to search areas around the National Arboretum in Northeast Washington.
In February 2014, Rudd and her family where staying at the the old D.C. General homeless shelter when she went missing with shelter janitor, Kahlil Malik Tatum. According to police, the then 8-year-old was last seen on March 1. Tatum, who abducted Rudd from the Northeast Washington center was found dead weeks later from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a construction site not far from where Rudd went missing. No indication of Rudd’s location was found at the scene of his death.

Police will now instruct divers to search the arboretum waters beginning on Wednesday and conclude on Thursday. K-9 units along with over 60 personnel to act as thoroughly as possible to locate Rudd.
This is the third investigation search MPD has launched with hopes to find any connections into Rudd’s disappearance.
