It has been less than 48 hours since Donald Trump won the American presidency and there has been a spike in racial and xenophobic incidents throughout the country. A Muslim student at San Diego State University was robbed and may have had her car stolen by two men who made comments about Trump and Muslims. Subscribe to our daily newsletter for the latest in hair, beauty, style and celebrity news. At Canisius College in west New York state, students posted photos of a black doll hanging from a dormitory curtain rod on social media. At NYU, students discovered Trump written on the door to a prayer room for Muslims on Wednesday. These are just three examples of the many incidents occurring around the country. And throughout social media, people of color posted about racist graffiti and hate crimes they’d experienced as fears of increased bigotry from Trump’s election has turned into reality. Here are some examples: “Black lives don’t matter and neither does your votes,” someone painted on a wall in Durham, N.C.
