In 2005, Dawn Richard was among the hundreds of aspiring female entertainers dancing and singing their hearts out in hopes of becoming a member of Diddy’s next girl group on MTV’s “Making the Band” series. Dawn was one of five women chosen by the megaproducer to join the pop quintet Danity Kane, a name Dawn created based on her comic book series of the same name.

On October 14, group members Aundrea, left, Dawn and Shannon attended the live season finale of “Making the Band 4” with former member Aubrey. The singers, sans D. Woods, were there to tell the story from their perspectives. The future of Danity Kane is unknown but MTV VJ Sway predicted another season of the show.

During the show’s season finale, members of Danity Kane shared their thoughts of betrayal when Diddy used Dawn in musical projects that were separate from the group.

“Everyone should ask Puff if that’s what he has in line for me, said Dawn. If he does, then I’m honored and I will work hard as I’ve always done. What I know for certain is that he would never break up Danity Kane. I’ve always been on that same train, too. At the end of the day, I’m going to rock with the first priority, which is Danity Kane.”

Despite growing apart since the band was formed, Danity Kane expressed their family-like feelings toward one another in the “Making the Band 4” season finale.

“The reality is that some days we get along and other days we don’t, but it has never made me feel differently about the girls or the group. I always wanted to rock with those four girls. I’m about business and how do we keep the fans happy and how do we make our business work better. I’m pro-Danity Kane, " said Dawn.

Even though Dawn’s beau, Que, has told her and millions of viewers his intentions to marry her, the couple is taking it one day at a time.

“No, we are not engaged. Que and I are trying to get by every day. It’s hard being in this industry, and we’re focused on our careers, but whenever we get an opportunity to hang we do and we’re just taking it day by day. We enjoy each other’s company and have a lot of fun together.”
