Just when we thought we could entertain an Internet rumor we were hoping was true, a rep for comedian Dave Chappelle says he won’t be returning to television after all.

The blogoshpere was abuzz this week with several sites reporting that Chappelle was in talks to host a web-based subscription-only show. But his publicist, Carla Simms, tells EW that the rumors are not true. Another source told the mag, “He’s enjoying his life, he has a new daughter and is just doing what he’s really passionate about — stand-up.”

Can you really blame people for getting excited? “The Chappelle Show” on Comedy Central is still one of the best sketch comedy shows around.

Chappelle has kept a low profile ever since walking away from his $50 million deal with Comedy Central in 2005. Let’s hope we’ll see him again soon.
