R&B singer Aaliyah’s 2001 death in a plane crash has always affected her former boyfriend Damon Dash.

Choreographer Fatima Robinson on Aaliyah: ‘It’s Amazing That Her Legacy is Still Alive’

During a sit down on The Real, the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder talked about how life would have been different had he travelled with Aaliyah to the Bahamas to shoot her video for “Rock the Boat.”

“Well, there is no chance that if I was there, we wouldn’t have been on that plane. You know what I’m saying? So, it would have never happened that way,” he said. “She told me she was going to the Bahamas and I was against it like, ‘Yo, don’t go.'”

Aaliyah died after the aircraft that was to transport her entire team back to the states from the Caribbean island crashed shortly after takeoff.

Tune into The Real this Tuesday, April 19 as Dash candidly shares details on the last conversation he had with Aaliyah.
