Dallas police have identified the man who fatally shot five police officers and wounded nine others, including two civilians.
ABC News reports that 25-year-old Micah Xavier Johnson opened fire during a peaceful protest in Dallas last night. During a stand-off with police, he reportedly told officials that he was upset with White people and wanted to kill White police officers. He later was killed by a bomb robot detonated by police.
“None of that makes sense,” Dallas police chief David Brown said at a news conference this morning.
According to investigators, he served in the military as an Army reservist until last year. He also said that he was unaffiliated with any organizations and was working alone.
Details about Johnson are still emerging.
