Ryan Coogler has something to say: Hollywood needs more female filmmakers.

In an interview with Variety, the Creed director expressed the need for more women behind the scenes.

“You know, we’re going to get better movies [if we have more female filmmakers],” Coogler said. “The industry would improve.”

As a matter of fact, Coogler, who is close friends with Selma director Ava DuVernay, went one step further. He said that women are actually better filmmakers than men.

“Put it on the record,” Coogler told Variety writer Kristopher Tapley. “I mean, it’s true, bro. In film school, life, whatever, they’re equipped to do this job, in many ways, better than us. They’re infinitely more complex than we are. Stronger and sharper.”

Yes! Tell them, Ryan!
