Michele Moody-Adams has been named Columbia University’s new dean of
Columbia College, the first Black person ever to serve in that position,
according to the New York Times. Moody-Adams is the vice-provost at Cornell
University and is a philosopher by trade. Her 1997 book, “Fieldwork in
Familiar Place: Morality, Culture and Philosophy,” was highly praised in the
field. No stranger to the Ivy League, Moody-Adams is a graduate of Harvard
University, receiving both her master¹s and doctoral degrees there.—WLW
