Over the weekend Modern Day Matchmaker Paul Carrick Brunson announced that a new film about his work and life story is coming to the big screen.
Devon Franklin’s production company Franklin Entertainment, in partnership with Columbia Pictures, has acquired the film rights to Brunson’s life story and his first book, It’s Complicated (But It Doesn’t Have to Be). The romantic comedy, which does not yet have an official release date, will be directed by Kevin Sullivan (How Stella Got Her Groove Back).
“I can’t explain how proud I am for this project to be led by such a distinguished team of producers,” says Brunson.
Brunson left his lucrative job in finance to become a full-time matchmaker, a new career which has garnered him much success and even a stamp of approval from Oprah Winfrey, who chose him to host Lovetown U.S.A on OWN in 2012.
The popular matchmaker and life coach couldn’t be happier with the team that will bring his life story to Hollywood. “There is no better group to tell my story than DeVon, Kevin, and Columbia,” he adds. “To see it up on the big screen will be something I truly never envisioned. More proof that God can dream a bigger dream for you than you could ever dream for yourself.”
Official details on the film’s production and release date are scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks.
