Well, the grandson of the year award definitely goes to this guy.
Houston college student and founder of non-profit Caring Heart Youth, Stefun Darts, did an incredibly admirable thing by providing his grandparents with a trip to the Bahamas and a check for $15,000 to pay off their mortgage. In a post shared on Facebook, Stefun said:
“GG | GP I promised God in the second grade I would pay off you guys house and help you retire. A promise I would never break. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched… but are felt by the heart.
Even with this, I could never repay you for what you’ve done for me. I sacrificed my teenage and early adulthood of not having fun for this moment. I couldn’t stand you going to work at night, some nights I didn’t even sleep knowing it shouldn’t be like this. Never have I wrote a check wanting this to be the first one. To all my friends that stood by me over these last 6 years I appreciate you.”
The college student told CBS affiliate KHOU that he saved money by not going out with friends and pretty much eating only microwave pizzas. His grandparents, Marilyn and Cecil Roberts, had spent the last 20 years making payments on their mortgage and would have spent another four if their grandson hadn’t stepped in.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts are very lucky to have such an amazing grandson. “I couldn’t believe it,”Stefun’s grandmother told KHOU, “To have a grandson like that is a blessing.”
