See what’s brewing this morning.

  • Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster, filed legal documents Tuesday to gain emergency custody of their two children after the singer’s son almost drown in a swimming pool accident. A hearing is set to take place later this week as Foster fights to take custody from Usher, believing that the environment their children live in is a dangerous one. Foster claims that Usher is being an irresponsible parent by allowing others to care for their two children. She is especially not too fond of Usher’s aunt, who had been caring for 5-year-old Usher Raymond V when he almost drown after his arm got trapped in a pool drain Monday. In the past, Foster claimed that Usher’s aunt allowed a stranger into the singer’s residence where the children stayed and also complained about her aggressive discipline methods. Usher currently has primary custody of the children, while Foster only has limited custodial rights. She hopes to change that. [TMZ]
  • Issa Rae is joining forces with producer Larry Wilmore as she prepares to star in an upcoming HBO comedy series. The YouTube sensation will co-write and co-executive produce the show which centers around awkward experiences of an African-American woman, similar to her popular web series,The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. Rae, who recently earned a spot on Forbes’ “30 under 30” list is also busy writing a memoir that will feature a collection of her personal essays. [Deadline]
  • Power couple Beyonce and Jay Z have reportedly gifted their employees with huge bonus checks. According to sources, all 80 of their employees have gotten a bonus of more than $45,000, totalling close to $4 million. An insider told TMZ that employees were so shocked that they had to make sure that the performers had not made an an error on their paychecks. “Jay Z is spreading the wealth around and everyone is blown away. Nobody got left out. A lot of them couldn’t believe it and phoned his personal assistant to check that there hadn’t been some mistake.” [Perez Hilton]
  • Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan has snagged a spot in Entertainment Weekly’s New Hollywood: Entertainers On the Rise issue and he’s accompanied by several other big names. Stars like Kerry Washington, Kevin Hart, Condola Rashad and Quvenzhane Wallis also landed on the list. Jordan says in the magazine that we’ll be seeing more of him on the silver screen as he may star in The Fantastic Four reboot and shares how uncomfortable it is to audition for action movies. “Action auditions are the worst. You’ve got maybe two lines: ‘What’s up, dude? Die! Die! Die!’ and you act like you’re shooting somebody, and you’ve got a rolled-up script as a gun. It’s the most awkward thing ever.” [Entertainment Weekly]
