According to a recent press release, Tyler Perry did more giving than getting to celebrate his 45th birthday. After seeing a story about Atlanta’s Young People Matter shelter and their imminent closing, Perry donated enough money to keep the shelter open through the end of the year. The shelter houses homeless Atlanta youth 18 and younger and, due to a recent lack of federal funding, they almost had to close their doors. Perry donated $45,000 to celebrate his 45th born day. Happy Birthday, Tyler! 

After CBS pulled her song from the intro of Thursday Night Football after the release of the Ray Rice video, Rihanna called them out. Taking to Twitter, Rihanna let them know that she wasn’t happy about them cutting her. “CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO f*** you! Y’all are sad for penalizing me for this,” tweeted the singer. Although she may not have any say, it’s not new that she’s speaking her mind. [USAToday]

In the grand jury decision against Darren Wilson, the four-month period for indictment has been extended. A St. Louis judge gave the grand jury until January 7 to make a decision on whether or not to bring criminal charges against the Ferguson cop involved in the death of Michael Brown. Although they may not take all of the alloted time, it has been extended to the full amount allowed by law. [NewsOne]

Bill Cosby and his wife Camille will showcase their extensive collection of African-American art at the Smithsonian Institution. The national museum will hold the Cosby collection in the African Art section. Titled “Conversations: African and African-American Artworks in Dialogue,” it is set to open November 9. The legendary Apollo Theater will host an epic three-night experience. According to a press release, the Apollo will be working with Daptone Records, for The Daptone Super Soul Revue, featuring headliners Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Charles Bradley. Each night will feature different acts, from The Sugarmann 3 to The Budos Band. The Daptone Super Soul Revue is from December 4 – 6.
