Ava DuVernay Tweets Praise for ‘Straight Outta Compton’

You know a film is good when it earns the praise of Selma director Ava DuVernay. DuVernay, a Compton native, tweeted her approval for the NWA biopic in a series of tweets, applauding the blockbuster for capturing what it meant to come of age in the city. “[Director F. Gary Gary] captured the plight of the Black artist in general, once consumed by systems and structures not made for them. The struggle is real,” she wrote. What a compliment! [Vulture]
