Marvin Gaye’s family may be seeking to hold T.I. liable for copyright infringement for his work on “Blurred Lines.”

“I have never walked into the studio and used anybody else’s idea to contribute to mine,” T.I. said in response to this news. “And I think that the universe and gods who look down on us all and have something to do with an outcome — that will exonerate me. I ain’t trippin'” [Access Hollywood]

Japan Crowns First Biracial Miss Universe

20-year-old Ariyana Miyamoto is making history as the first biracial Miss Universe from Japan. Born of a Japanese mother and African American father, the new Miss Universe contestant has always challenged Asian beauty ideals to be more diverse. Miyamoto says she’s been inspired by Mariah Carey to keep pushing forward.

“She faced some racial hurdles, similar to myself, but she overcame them and became a top star, so she’s been a big influence on me,” Miyamoto says. [Black Enterprise]

LeToya Luckett: Stop Judging Karrueche Tran

LeToya Luckett is calling out social media users for harassing and judging Karrueche Tran for her up-and-down relationship with Chris Brown. 

“At the end of the day all of us have done some real crazy stuff that if it was put on a platform, would you want people lashing out at you?” she said. “I think when you involve social media, you’ve got to understand that there’s no stopping them. There’s no chill.” [Madame Noire]

$10 Million Awarded to Family of Victim in Tracy Morgan Crash

Walmart is awarding $10 million to the estate of James McNair, the comedian who was killed in the car crash that injured Tracy Morgan. McNair was killed last year after a Walmart tractor trailer truck slammed into Morgan’s limo van after the truck driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. Morgan himself sustained a serious brain injury and is currently in rehab. [News One]
