Coffee Talk: ‘Think Like a Man Too’ Director Tim Story Inks Production Deal With HBO

See what we’re chatting about over iced coffee:

Director Tim Story has inked a two-year deal with HBO to produce comedy, drama and longform projects for the network under his The Story Company banner. The deal marks a return to TV for the former musician who directed the pilot and executive produced Fox drama, Standoff. Story is on a roll with back-to-back hits Think Like a Man and Ride Along. His newest film Think Like a Man Too hits theaters Friday. [Deadline]

Transgendered TV personality B. Scott has denied BET’s attempts to settle an ongoing dispute regarding last year’s BET Awards. Scott sued BET claiming that they forced him to change into men’s clothing during the red-carpet special of the event. A judge ruled in the favor of BET in April leaving Scott with the bill for their attorney fees. BET has offered to settle for a significantly lower fee if Scott drops any appeals. Scott has denied the offer, filed another appeal and says, “No one will tell me who I should be, how I should present myself, or what I do with my life.” BET is now going after him for the fees again, demanding at least $150,000. Universal has announced the launch of the “Get On Up Tour.” The interactive experience allows fans to record their best James Brown impersonation, record a tribute to capture how the Godfather of Soul inspired them and see exclusive clips from the upcoming movie set to hit theaters August 1. The “Get On Up Tour” kicks off in New York City at the American Black Film Festival June 20-22 and makes a stop at the 20th annual ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans. [IndieWire]

Jay Z has teamed up with Beats by Dre for the “Jungle Remix” in a commercial for a World Cup commercial. The latest ad features fresh lyrics by the rapper and a mash up of athletes and artists. Check out the clip below:
