- Thicker Than Water star Brooklyn Tankard was arrested for failure to force her child to go to school. After being stopped by cops in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for a traffic offense, a license check revealed some outstanding warrants, including one for “failure to cause child to attend school.” According to the court documents, Tankard’s 10-year-old-daughter Diamond, has 16 unexcused absences and 35 unexcused tardies from school. Tankard was booked and then released. [TMZ]
- Pharrell had a great start to 2014 and shows no signs of slowing down. The super-producer has announced that his new album G I R L will hit stores in two weeks. The LP, which will be his first effort under new label Columbia/Sony Music, is led by his hit single “Happy.” Pharrell released the cover and a 30-second trailer for the album that will drop on March 3. - Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom has signed a new contract with Spanish team, Laboral Kutxa. The two-month contract has the option of extending the deal for the remainder of the season. Sources say that Odom plans to play the rest of the season in Spain before determining whether he will return to the NBA. [ESPN]
- Kanye West has his eye on Hollywood. The “Bound 2” rapper tapped American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis for a new film project. Although the details of the new collaboration are unclear, the two worked together last year on a viral American Psycho-inspired video. The famed author admits that at first he didn’t want to work with West but after listening to Kanye’s latest album Yeezus he decided, “regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this.” [MTV]
- Universal has confirmed that a sequel to the box office hit Ride Along starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube will indeed happen. Director Tim Story will return, while Hart and Ice Cube are currently negotiating their deals. While there were talks of a sequel back in April, the record-breaking success of the movie which debuted over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday cemented the deal. [HollywoodReporter]
