We added an extra dose of espresso to our brew (hey, it was a action-packed weekend at the ESSENCE Festival, so we need the extra jolt today!). Here’s what’s brewing:
- SWV made a return to the music scene two years ago with their fourth album, I Missed Us, and now the trio plans to take over reality television with a new series on WEtv. The group, which previously hinted that they were considering a reality show, just announced their new show has been given the green light. “It’s official! SWV has landed our own reality show on WEtv! Tune in if you love us and if you hate us still tune in! Air date coming soon!” [That Grape Juice]
- Bobbi Kristina Brown and her informally-adopted brother Nick Gordon are back on and the pair are reportedly engaged. This past weekend Brown tweeted a picture of she and her beau on the beach. “My gorgeous fiance @nickgordon and I on the boardwalk,” read one tweet. “Yes. I’m MADLY in love with this phenomenal man. (truly happier than ever).” The pair called off their first engagement late last year and confirmed the breakup via Twitter as well. [Bossip]
- Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, has canceled an appearance to promote his line of SMS Audio headphones at one of England’s largest retailers after recent charges of domestic violence. According to the Birmingham Mail, the rapper called off a scheduled appearance at Argos, saying that it was due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Jackson is set to appear in court July 22 for an arraignment on charges of domestic violence and vandalism.
- On a lighter note, Leona Lewis has revealed that her next album will be a Motown inspired Christmas album. The former X Factor winner says judge Simon Cowell inspired her to record the holiday themed record. “Simon Cowell is still very much involved in my career and helps me out. He came up with the Christmas album idea, and we both kind of felt it was the right time to go ahead with it,” said Lewis. Fans can expect a mix of Motown favorites with a twist of her own sound.
