Plus, the new Scandal promo shows us where Olivia Pope is, Ne-Yo's ex, Monyetta Shaw, wants the public to forgive him, and Serena William's new Beats by Dre ad is flawless.
Here’s what we’re talking about over our hot coffee:
The release of new footage of NFL player Ray Rice punching his wife has sparked debate, nationwide. President Obama weighed in on the video, and domestic violence overall. In a statement issued through Press Secretary Josh Earnest, the President said he “believes that domestic violence is contemptible and unacceptable in a civilized society.” For him, “hitting a woman is not something that a real man does, and that’s true whether or not an act of violence happens in the public eye, or, far too often, behind closed doors.” Obama ended his statement with something that many people agree with: “Stopping domestic violence is something that’s bigger than football–and all of us have a responsibility to put a stop to it.”
With each of the new Scandal promo videos, fans get closer to the edge of their seats. In the latest video, we finally see where Olivia Pope is. Guess where? On the beach, drinking her always-handy red wine. What beach? We don’t know. But she looks like she’s relaxing (finally) the only way she knows how. [HuffingtonPost]
Ne-Yo’s ex-fiancé, Monyetta Shaw, is speaking up on his behalf. The Atlanta Exes star wants to make sure people aren’t judging her ex because of things that she’s revealed about him on the show. “What I want to convey to the world is to let them know that I’ve forgiven him,” said Shaw. “Yes, people grow, people change, people make mistakes, but I was mature enough to forgive him. I kinda want fans to forgive him too.” [HelloBeautiful]
