First, Straight Outta Compton broke records for becoming the highest-grossing R-rate film of all time. And now, director F. Gary Gray is going down in history as the highest-grossing Black director with a single film. Straight Outta Compton has earned a mind-boggling $157.5 million, beating out Keenen Ivory Wayans, the previous recordholder, whose Scary Movie racked up $157 million. [Music Times]

ABC Picks Up Pilot Based On John Legend & Chrissy Teigen’s Relationship

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s playful relationship is coming to a screen near you! ABC has picked up the pilot for Ordinary People, the new sitcom created by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and loosely based off of Legend and Teigen’s love. Ernie Hudson Signs on for ‘Ghostbusters’ Remake

An O.G. (Original Ghostbuster) is on his way back to the franchise. Ernie Hudson has been cast in the upcoming all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, joining Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd, who also starred in the original film. Keep an eye out for the highly anticipated reboot next summer. [Deadline]

Aretha Franklin Postpones Concerts

Aretha Franklin is a busy woman. The Queen of Soul is slated to perform for the Pope later this week in Philadelphia, but she just postponed two October concerts in Oklahoma, citing travel fatigue. In a statement, Franklin, who travels by bus from her home of Detroit, said that she was exhausted after driving to the West Coast only a few months earlier. She promised Tulsa and Durant, Okla. that she would be rescheduling her shows, though! [Billboard]

Bow Wow Slams Erica Mena for Revealing She Suffered a Miscarriage

Last week, Erica Mena revealed that tragically, she and her fiance, Bow Wow, had suffered a miscarriage earlier this year. On Twitter, she was unapologetic about speaking her mind, but Bow Wow has a different take on her openness. “First and foremost, I feel like telling your personal business on social media, I feel like that’s one of the lamest things you possibly can do,” Bow Wow said to his fiancee in a YouTube video. “I feel like it’s attention seeking, especially when it’s news that happened five months ago.” [Vibe]
