• The late Donna Summer is among many nominated for the 2013 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The previously nominated disco queen joins first time nominees N.W.A., Public Enemy and The Marvelettes in addition to several other acts. For the first time ever, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite nominee from now until December 5. [CNN]
• President Obama raised a reported $181M in September. According to Reuters, as many as 1,825,813 people gave to the campaign last month. The average donation was $53. Since his official reelection campaign kicked off in April of 2011 over 3.9M people have donated. [Reuters]
• Kanye West, who deleted his Twitter account last week, made a shocking return to the social media network to honor the late Steve Jobs on Friday. In a series of tweets honoring the Apple creator, West said Jobs was inspiring and likened him to Michael Jackson, Walt Disney and Dr. King. “Let’s be thankful for his life and respect his legacy by never compromising on our future,” he tweeted. • Diggy Simmons is taking his career to new heights. The young rapper just finished filming his first feature film, Parental Guidance. Simmons tweeted, “Just wrapped on set of my very first movie with the legendary Billy Crystal. A real blessing to be apart of this movie.” The film is set to come out on Christmas. [Twitter]
• In honor of his eight-night concert run at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Jay-Z will release a live eight-song EP on October 9. All of the songs showcased on the project were recorded and filmed during his eighth and final concert on October 6. [MTV]
