FOX Sues Record Label Over Use of Word ‘Empire’

FOX Network is suing California Corporation Empire Distribution, Inc. for using the words “Empire,” “Empire Distribution,” and “Empire Recording” in promotion and advertisement. FOX claims Empire Distribution is not well-known enough to have rights over the words although Kendrick Lamar, Sean Paul and other popular artists have released work via Empire Distribution.

The California company originally sued FOX back in February for trademark infringement in the hit FOX show, Empire. Now FOX is suing them for rights to the trademark. Who do you think will win? [Madame Noire]

Meagan Good Attempts to Unite Black Women with New Webseries

All That Matters, Meagan Good’s new web series, is only three episodes in and already boasting over 6 million views. Good, who co-created, directs, and produces the series, says the purpose is to change the representation of Black women on the screen and bring us together.

“A lot of times we’re shown very dysfunctional and in some cases, it can be very one dimensional,” Good said. “Instead of complaining about it, let’s go in there and come with something fresh and new and something positive. The most important thing we can do is support each other.” [Hello Beautiful]
