Bill Cosby took to Twitter yesterday to send a “thank you” message to Jill Scott and Whoopi Goldberg, both of whom came to his defense as rape allegations started to surface over the let few weeks. Last month on The View, Goldberg raised questions about the police protocol following the alleged assaults, and on Monday, Scott tweeted that she respects “a man who has done more for the image of Brown people that almost anyone EVER.” Cosby tweeted a simple “Thank you from the Cosby family” to both women.
Bond fans rejoice! The next James Bond movie has been announced and Naomie Harris is returning to the franchise in the latest Bond flick, Spectre. Harris will play Eve Moneypenny in this 24th installment of the iconic series. [Daily Mail]
Jackie Woodson has responded to Daniel Handler’s racist “watermelon” joke at the 2014 National Book Awards. The award-winning author of Brown Girl Dreaming says she was “astonished” that her friend would make a “wink-nudge joke about being Black” on the night she received her award. “By making light of that deep and troubled history, he showed that he believed we were at a point where we could laugh about it all,” Woodson wrote. “His historical context, unlike my own, came from a place of ignorance.” [The New York Times]
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson tweeted yesterday that he was brushing up on his singing skills for his role in the new Disney movie, Moana, the story of a 14-year-old girl trying to find her parents. The Rock will play Maui, a Hawaiian demigod in the musical comedy scheduled for release in 2016. [Huffington Post]
Now that Alfonso Ribeiro has won Dancing With The Stars, there will be no more Carlton dances anytime soon. Ribeiro plans to rest up with his wife and new baby in a vacation on the beach. “We’re going o Maui,” he told Access Hollywood. “We’re gonna lay on the beach and just do nothing for a week.” [Access Hollywood]
