  • Beyonce has officially hit the one million sales mark. According to Apple and Columbia, Beyonce’s visual album that dropped last week without any promotion and sold 800,000 over the weekend, had its millionth sale on Wednesday. The album was exclusively available on the digital iTunes platform and physical copies hit stories today. [HuffingtonPost]
  • The Ice Cube-produced biopic Straight Outta Compton finally has a writer. Jonathan Herman has signed on to pen the story of N.W.A’s rise to fame. The production team will also include Eazy-E’s widow, Tomica Woods and Dr. Dre. Will Packer will executive produce the Universal Pictures project. [HollywoodReporter]
  • Terrence Howard has lost a lawsuit over unpaid rent. According to his former New York landlord, the actor owes almost $52,000 in back rent. He was evicted in May after allegedly living there rent free despite his lease coming to an end in November of 2012. The judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff due to Terrence’s failure to appear in court. He has set another hearing to determine how much should be paid. [Wonderwall]
  • 12 Years a Slave will be re-released in limited cities on Friday, January 17th. Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley said, “We are honored to re-release this incredible film to theaters after it debuted to standing ovations in Telluride and Toronto. Steve McQueen’s deft storytelling with a superbly talented cast continues to win over audiences everywhere.” [Deadline]
