Coffee Talk: Beyonce Joins the ‘Ban Bossy’ Campaign
By Dominique Hobdy · Updated October 27, 2020

Here’s why we’re adding a little extra cream to our coffee today:

Beyonce has teamed up with The Girls Scouts of USA, Leanin.org and Lifetime television for the “Ban Bossy” campaign in an effort to encourage leadership in young girls. The campaign, which also features Condoleezza Rice, Jennifer Garner and Diane Von Furstenberg, points out that girls are less likely to take on leadership roles for fear of being labeled “bossy.” Check out the PSA below. President Obama introduced the new Fox series, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, last night. The series is a reboot of the 1980s series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. Produced by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and hosted by physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, the 13-part guide-to-the-universe series will air on Fox Sundays at 9 p.m. EST and National Geographic Mondays at 10 p.m. EST. Pharrell Williams has teamed up with the UN for the “International Day of Happiness” set for March 20. The Oscar-nominated rapper and producer is calling for fans to “demonstrate their happiness” on YouTube, starting today. Pharrell will then post his favorite videos to his website for 24 Hours of Happiness at noon on the “Day of Happiness.” [24HoursofHappiness]

Nick Cannon and former NFL players, Charles Woodson, Warren Moon and Jarvis Green were scammed for thousands of dollars by a man claiming to help them gain ownership of NBA teams. George French Jones, 45, is being investigated after an 11-count criminal complaint was filed against him in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Jones received $15,000 from Cannon as a made-up investment in the Atlanta Hawks. He was arrested on February 21 and is due back in court on March 12. [Vibe]
