Cicely Tyson, Doug E. Fresh and More to Appear at BET’s Selma Anniversary Concert

This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, a peaceful protest turned violent in Selma, Alabama. To honor this moment in history, BET is holding a three-hour concert featuring appearances by Bill Withers, Cicely Tyson, Harry Belafonte and Doug E. Fresh. Flava Flav, Rick Ross and MC Lyte are also schedule to make an appearance and rapper Vanilla Ice? We’ll be tuning in to see. [The Grio]

Rihanna Teases New Song on Instagram

Rihanna fans have been begging for more new music from the pop star and she is giving them what they want. Ri Ri posted a snippet of her new song Higher on her Instagram page yesterday and the 15 second snippet has already garnered over 200,000 likes. OWN Renews Four Shows from Tyler Perry

You’ll be seeing a lot more from Tyler Perry on OWN. His original scripted programs The Haves and The Have Nots, If Loving You Is Wrong, Love They Neighbor, and For Better Or Worse have all been picked up for additional seasons by the Oprah Winfrey Network. “Tyler’s original series have quickly become appointment viewing for a passionate audience and OWN is pleased to deliver 87 new episodes,” said OWN president Erik Logan. Ahmad “Real” Givens is Laid to Rest

Last weekend, we got the sad news that reality show star Ahmad “Real” Givens passed away after a long battle with colon cancer. His co-star, and brother, Kamal “Chance” Givens shared photos from the funeral service and remembered his brother on Instagram. “I had no idea this kind of pain existed lord I just ask for your strength to get me through these tough times that I’m experiencing,” he wrote. “Wish we can have you back. love you brother.” [Instagram]
