“I’ve loved ripped jeans for as long as I can remember,” says Synclair. “I don’t care if they’re trending or not, I always have a pair in my closet ready when I need a casual look.”
“I also have a deep affinity for sheer fabrics like this lace top.”
Lace top by Zara, distressed jeans by Victoria’s Secret, chandelier earrings by RACHEL Rachel Roy, bracelet by Lia Sophia, bangle by Guenevere Rodriguez and boots by Chloé.
“The foundation of my closet is built on simple clothes with a little edge in mostly black and a few other neutrals like navy and grey,” Synclair tells us. “Simple looks with texture and draping that I can wear nearly anywhere with just the flick of a wrist, change of shoes, switch of jewelry, and a swipe of new lipstick are what I’m all about.”
Dress by Helmut Lang, leather studded shoes by Donna Karan Collection.
Suede bracelet with brass beads by Madewell, studded leather wrap bracelet by Gap, small silver ring by Giles & Brother, “Rolling Stone” ring found at a flea market in London and silver wing ring by Atrium NYC, silver watch by Hamilton, and leather studded sandals by Donna Karan Collection.
“My personal aesthetic, not just in my clothing, is centered on a play between hard and soft — the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine. If I’m wearing something girly I’m usually also wearing something that’s a little rough to balance it out.”
Colorblock blouse by Ann Taylor, leather shorts by American Vintage, baseball cap by New Era and sandals by Zara.
“For the last 6 months my new obsession/favorite accessory has been the fitted baseball cap. The attention it brings from men and women alike is pretty surprising, I guess because the hat is unexpected! I like to wear it with ultra fem dresses especially to some place like a posh nightclub.”
“I love the versatility of this dress; with cool peep toe ankle boots and a light leather jacket I can wear this to the office and it will easily take me to an after work event or drinks with the girls,” explains Synclair. “I can also dress it way up for a special event like I did here by adding a striking sparkly shoe and a little bling.”
Gown by BCBG, gunmetal and hematite bracelet and ring, both by Express, D’orsay pumps by Roger Vivier.
“As a shoe designer I quickly notice things — like the hinge platform bottom these have,” Synclair describes. “In the industry we’re always trying to solve comfort problems like wood shoes not flexing and come up with new technologies. These are a super hot and sexy attempt at a solution but they still hurt like hell!”
“I’d been in love with the idea of the now infamous Isabel Marant wedge sneaker which I covered on my blog some time ago and I’m sure You’ve seen by now on the likes of Beyonce and Alicia Keys. I came across a similar version at Aldo and to be honest I like these even better because I’m a sucker for a bit of fringe!”
