“I’m a shoe girl all the way!” says Tai Beauchamp, new host of TLC Dare to Wear. Here she proves that statement in fierce white shoes while rocking a fabulous festival look. Follow along as the style maven details some of her favorite ensembles.
“The color of this Thakoon dress was enough! The plunging neckline took it to a whole other level. I added the traditional statement necklace that my grandmother had given to me because I wanted the overall look to seem more regal than fashion-forward. The emerald did that.”
“This was one of my favorite looks of the year! The dress is from Vincetta, the shoes are Guiseppe Zanotti from my closet and the bag is pure genius. The team at Ursula Stephens Salon styled my hair and I worked with a young stylist Nneya Richards to pull this look together. I told her I wanted something ’20s inspired but modern. And my makeup artist Joanna Simkin nailed it with the merlot-hued lip. I guess I didn’t veer too much form my black and white preferences, though. The gold did elevate the overall look, however.”
” I love this look! Classic, flowy, ankle-length pleated skirt with a studded cape I managed to get from Chicago’s D’Lux boutique after seeing it posted on Instagram is an example of classic meets swag.”
“The dress is Roland Mouret. I love his body con stretch jersey dresses because they feel snug but are also comfortable. I wear a lot of black so the infusion of white in the graphic print makes the dress more interesting. I paired the suede tangerine Jimmy Choo pumps with the look as a nod to spring.”
“I bought this Cushnie et Ochs dress on Net-a-porter or The Outnet a few months ago and it sat in my closet for a bit. I wanted to wear something black in honor of Black Girls Rock. I love that it’s more than a simple black dress because of the pintucking, the sheer paneling and the soft stretch silk fabric. This number makes me feel feminine and powerful at the same time.”
“I love the idea of wearing something that seems more formal, like this gold foil DKNY skirt with a tank top and moto jacket. And a red lip always looks good.”
“Whether it’s a lip color choice or statement shoe or hat…make a statement,” advises Tai. She did just that in this fun printed frock, studded clutch and bejeweled shoe.
“This is still one of my favorite dresses even though it’s 2 years old. The designer is Suno NY and I have worn a lot of their designs. I believe I had just come back from Africa, likely Kenya or Nigeria and this print said interesting, dynamic, wild and cultured to me. It was a bit chilly at night that day and so I found a scarf I had, I believe it was an old Zara scarf, and I just put it on. Style should be effortless. Don’t fuss to much! Or risk looking like a massive effort.”
