Choreographer and music video director Fatima Robinson stopped by ESSENCE Live to talk about her new NBC show and remember Aaliyah.
Choreographer and music video director, Fatima Robinson, stopped by ESSENCE Live to talk about her new project, a nostalgic 90s television show for NBC.
The dancer revealed that the show is still in its early stages with a team just beginning to form. However, she did share that the show will be an “inside look into a dancer’s world and the music industry. It will feel modern with a little nostalgia.” The show will look back at a time when dancers who were into hip-hop were blazing a trail for the next generation.
“At the time we didn’t realize we were trailblazing as hip-hop kids with these creative people, we were just dancing. We didn’t realize we were trailblazing.”
Robinson also had nothing but love for fans who are keeping the memory of late R&B artist, Aaliyah, alive. The two worked closely together and were close friends throughout the singer’s career.
“It’s great that everybody appreciates what she did for the short time she was here and it’s amazing that her legacy is still alive, it’s amazing.”
